Sarah Brookshire Graves, youngest child of Joel and Sarah Slack Brookshire was b. in Montgomery Co In about two and one half mi. W. of Ladoga, Feb 5, 1833. She was united in marr. to Brantly Harrison Graves on Feb 9, 1856. To this union was b. 5 ch: Mary and Homer Perry now deceased and martin Crawford of Wingate; Fannie E. Taylor of near Waveland and Harrison Carey of Waveland. The deceased also leaves to mourn her loss, 7 grandchildren, Warren, Fred, Ward and Jesse Graves; Lula Alexander and Homer A, and Howard Benjamin besides 17 gr. grandch and one sister, Mrs. Jane bell of Ladoga, and many nephews and nieces and other relatives and friends. Hers has been a life of many sorrows and afflictions, having lost her hearing many years ago and since her last affliction having lost her eye sight as well as use of her limbs and speech. She suffered a stroke of paralysis July 20th and continued in a serious condition until at 4:10 a.m. Nov 18, 1921 she was called to her final rest. Short services were held at her late home in Waveland at 12 o'clock Sun Nov 20, 1921 after which the remains were taken to the home of her grandniece, Mrs. Eugene C. Ashby in Ladoga where a service was held, after which the body was laid to rest in the family lot in Ladoga Cem beside that of her husband and other deceased members of the family. -- typed by kbz
